February has been flying, I mean it! We are in the last half of the month, and I can’t quite grasp that we are at the end of the second month of the year. Time is a weird construct.
People say time heals all. I’m not sure I believe it. If anything, doesn’t time distort perception and belief of different incidents and events? If you’re like me, then you only sometimes journal or write down your feelings. I’m not so sure if time really heals or just confuses the mind.
Time and putting in the work heal all is the more accurate turn of phrase. Yes, distance from an event that caused you pain can help with turning that into a dull ache, but does it truly heal? Probably not, because even if you forget, your body remembers.
Your body houses so much: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Your brain works tirelessly to decide what you hold onto viscerally and mentally. It chooses what your brain doesn’t need to keep going back to as well. If something goes away from your shelf in your mind’s closet, it’s put in the basement, and your body is the metaphorical basement where pain and trauma live.
What does one typically do to a basement? How do we treat the room in the house where we store all of our excess, all of our unwanted items we aren’t ready to deal with? We ignore it. We look and glaze our eyes over the trash and the junk sitting up on the shelves or under a table.
I started writing today, just free thinking and typing. I can feel that my thoughts are pointing me toward encouraging myself and my readers today to do one thing: move your body. Move it and don’t stop. For some of us, it’s how we reclaim our right to heal, our right to observe how we feel, and our right to joy.
There is truly nothing more joyful than sitting down on your couch and feeling like you’ve cleaned out the basement, so to speak. You’ve done some work to organize and make way for more.
Life is abundance waiting to happen. 💓 Make way for the blessings that are coming your way. Realize your mind may let go, but your body needs a bit more help. This year is moving fast, but it’s only just beginning.
Love,
Hallie
